Newport's Social Site

I am offering a £50 prize for the first person to reach 10,000 posting points. The points will be aggregated on files uploaded, blogs and informative posts only, no one liners, including posts and replies!!!

In order for these posts to gain maximum points please submit to one of the blogging sites at the bottom of each post, be aware that immediately after you post, the post url is set to the edit link so you will need to navigate back to your post to get the correct url for submission. This will ensure you get replies to your posts which increase points further.

Anyone found replying to their own post with their account or another will be excluded.

I gracefully decline entry for the prize as it would be unfair to other members as I am very close to the points already. I am guessing that you are not entering yourself either, cos that would just be wrong!

Now that the member points system is fixed, this prize is available once more...

This is a Great Idea For newbies personally i couldnt care bout the money aslong as the site gets busy and interesting then it will be a great place to come and relax and meet new people :)

Yeah Ur right tho i been round a few forums for latest hip hop music and software so i no how most of them work out bout 95% of the forums adopt this strategy straight off i guess u have to build from the bottom and work your way up thats the only way plus benefits of this site is i have'nt seen no other all about newport forums flying round so this is a great idea in the long run lets just hope it grows !!!

The site was about me and a few mates when i started it in 2004, decided to keep it about Newport couldn't do much else with the domain (www.the-port.co.uk) lol ... but yeh it's only for Newport, easier to get it off the ground as it is of common interest to most of my mates, your mates and probs most of the other members and their mates, i will expand it in the future if it grows beyond Newport's borders, until then it's all about The-Port...

It's funny though, when i tried submitting it to the BBC as a site about Newport, they declined to include it as it has other sections not about Newport... thats just Dumb... may try submitting it again soon

It's not meant for people like us who are dedicated to the forum, it is meant to attract people that normally wouldn't join a site like this, a sort of incentive. But even so if you do get to 10,000 points first you will get the prize, minus 5 points for the last post though lol.
