    Tesco Boycott

I have been using a particular brand of oil purchased at Tesco in my car for about 3 months now, costing £0.80 per litre. Since using this oil i have only been putting £10 per month in my car in diesel, reducing the cost of using my car and more critically reducing the use of rediculously priced fossil fuels, in favour of renewable ones...

... I went to Tesco today to buy some more eco fuel and found that they had increased the price of this oil to £1.19 per litre (50% increase in price), WTF. I went to two stores in my area and found that the price was the same in each. I asked the customer services desk why this oil had been increased in price, and she replied "a lot of people are using it in their cars". Erm, yeh, and, so your selling more of it, so you can't increase the price??? I guess that's how it works, if you want to be green you have to pay through the nose and make Tesco rich in the process, normally if you sell more of a product the price goes down not up, it just highlights the lengths Tesco will go to to make a profit, pure greed!

The only reason i can find is that tesco are trying to cash in on this renewable and green energy source, and the way they have come to the conclusion that people are using it in their cars is through the club card... Increased purchase of oil, decrease in purchase of Diesel, they know who you are, what you are buying and when, i dont think the rewards in points justify this level of information.

This has angered me to the extent that i am no longer going to purchase any diesel or anything else in Tesco, i have only ever purchased my fuel at Tesco in the 11 years i have been driving, but no more... There is an ASDA store in my area and the diesel is actually cheaper there, and they sell vegatable oil for £1 per litre, still cheaper than tesco... and ASDA's oil is usually on offer, i had some for £62.5 per litre not so long back.

Next thing to do is send my club cards back to Tesco and tell them very strongly where they can stick them.

Every little helps???... Very little helps!!!

    Re: Tesco Boycott

I thought i would give Tesco the benefit of the doubt, after all i was going there for breakfast, it can't harm to have a check on their oil prices...

...so ok, they are sticking to their guns on the soya oil, it's still £1.19 (rip off at +50%), but there is something else wrong with this picture, to save you guessing, though you probably already have, it is about oil prices... I don't know if any of you have bought and used grapeseed oil? Well i have, quite regularly when soyola is sold out... It was and has been as far as i can rmember £1 per litre???? So imagine my surprise at its new price of £2.76, WTF!!! Are we running out of grapes, are we running out of grapeseeds (which are a bi-product)?

Something very fishy is going on here, and even the lady on the customer services desk was surprised at the dramatic increase in price, im not going to waste my time and money contacting head office! Is the governemt now slapping fuel taxation on food stuffs?

Needless to say, i went to ASDA for my shopping and the small amount of diesel i required to mix with my surplus stocks of Soyola and Crisp & Dry Wink
