A NEWPORT man appeared in court yesterday charged with causing the death by dangerous driving of a 22 year old man.
Marc Steven Vacara, 20, of Monnow Way, Bettws, appeared before
Newport magistrates’ court yesterday charged in connection with the
death of Jamie Linton on May 16.
Newport man Mr Linton, a devoted dad to three-year-old Ieuan, was
one of six friends travelling in a Vauxhall Corsa which crashed on a
remote dirt track and went into a reen near the sea wall in Magor.
The car landed upside down in the water and the five other people
in the car suffered minor injuries. Mr Linton was pulled free by his
friends, but was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts from a
passing motorist, paramedics and police.
Tributes from friends and family described the former Caldicot Comprehensive School pupil as “happy and fun-loving.”
Yesterday, Vacara spoke only to confirm his name and address and to indicate he understood the charges.
Vacara was ordered to appear in Newport crown court next month. He was released on unconditional bail.
