South Wales Fire and Rescue Service is recruiting firefighters next month.
All firefighters undertake training and are able to deal with a variety of rescue and firefighting incidents.
They also educate local communities about fire safety to prevent fires happening in the first place.
Application forms can be collected on September 3 from Malpas Fire Station, Malpas Road, Newport, from 10am - 1pm and 4pm - 7pm.
They will only be available at these times and the closing date for applications is September 12.
Successful candidates will begin a 12-week training course at Cardiff Gate Training Centre in January 2009.
Chief Fire Officer Brian Fraser said: “Our Firefighters work long and hard every day to keep the people of South Wales aware about the dangers of fire at home.
"They help them to reduce the risk and understand what to do in an emergency and have made a huge difference over the last ten years, reducing fire deaths in the home from 26 in 1996-7 to one in 2006-7.
"We want to continue this trend, and so we'd like to see applications from those who can connect with people in order to help them stay safe.”
