ELDERLY residents in Duffryn, Newport were given a seasonal treat as they celebrated their summer picnic and funday last week.
Residents of Nightingale Court were treated to an afternoon of food
and fun after Duffryn Community Link received £125 from elderly charity
Help the Aged.
Community development officer, Bob Barry, said: “A lot of help and effort has gone into this day."
And Mr Barry especially thanked Helped the Aged for providing the
funding and two residents, Elsie Foley and Margaret Jones for their
help in planning the day.
The picnic was opened by Newport Mayor Noel Trigg and entertainment was provided by father-and-son double act “Jim and Donna”.
“This day was a huge success and we hope that it raises awareness of the area and our community spirit,” Mr Barry said.
